Mr. Ankale Yelyel Tiling
The contributions of Mr. Ankale Yelyel to the development of Tangale in the area of literary work and preservation of Tangale history is outstanding.
Mr. Yelyel was born on the 20th of December, 1949, in Billiri. He attended the Billiri SIM Primary School from 1957 to 1963 and the Kagoro Secondary School from 1964-1968. He was also at the Government Secondary School Bauchi from 1970 to 1971, where he obtained his Higher School Certificate before reading Political Science in ABU Zaria from 1973 to 1976. He bagged his MSc in Political Science from the University of Lagos in 1980 and a certificate in Management Consulting.
Mr. Yelyel began his career with the old Bauchi State as an Admin Officer in 1977 and rose through the ranks to become a Permanent Secretary in 1994 and remained there until 2003 when he retired (in Gombe State).
Mr. Yelyel is known to have run “Kothoto,” the popular radio discussion program in the Tangale language on Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC).
His role in the Tangale version of Jesus Film, as well as in the translation of the Bible into the Tangale language, is outstanding.
He has also served as a consultant in most of the books written about the Tangale people.
Mr Ankale is married with children and loves farming and reading as hobbies.
